There are many baby swings to choose from but small children make the choice much easier. Why? Because all babies are naturally peaceful Zen monks if their surroundings support serenity. And a baby swing is a soothing, restful environment that keeps Baby happy while giving mom and dad a much-needed respite. The swinging motion is similar to the womb and can calm the crankiest little one in seconds. Even colicky or acid reflux babies will fall asleep, even if they have to sit up straight so as to not cause digestive outrage.
There are different kinds of baby swings and before you choose, consider these important questions:
* Do you want an open top or a canopy top? If a child is older they are less likely to want to be closed in while closed tops make infants feel secure.
* Or do you want your swing to move 'traditionally' – that is, forward and back, or would you prefer one that also moves from side to side.
* And do you want a portable swing? Of course, none of them are a member of the Giganticus species but some are made to collapse and be transported to new areas with ease.
* And how do you want your baby swing to be powered? The earliest models were hand cranked but all those available today run on either batteries, an electric cord or both. Some parents feel safer with batteries only and one model claims to run for a year on one set of batteries. Others may prefer the long life of a battery.
Avoid disappointment by knowing in advance what kind of baby swing is best for you, your child – and your bank account.
