Perhaps you’ve driven by a Curves gym in your meanderings about town? Curves caters only to women and is designed to reduce the size and improve the appearance of our own personal curves. The program is designed to help us lose weight easily with fat loss programs that rely upon both exercise and dieting.
The Curves For Women Workout
Curves claims that if you can set aside thirty minutes, three times per week, you can become fit and strong. The Curves routine depends upon circuit training exercise that is done on a multitude of machines.
The idea is to alternate various workout machines, alternative with walking in place and this is all done to, and times by, music and audio tapes. You use one machine for one minute until the ‘announcer’ instructs you to move to the next machine. At specific intervals, everybody in the Curves facility stops and checks their pulse. Posted on the walls are charts with safe pulse rates based on age. This is an attempt to keep every member safe and within their optimal range.
The Curves Diet
At Curves, you schedule a meeting with a nutritionist who will help you choose a Curves diet plan that will accelerate the fat loss gained by working out. There are two plans:
The Calorie Sensitive plan …
The Carbohydrate Sensitive plan …
If you choose one and it doesn’t work, simply switch to the other.
The Curves diet plans have three phases:
Phase One is designed to jumpstart your weight loss.
Phase Two is followed until you reach your target goal.
Phase Three is the maintenance phase of the diet plan.
The Curves Diet: What To Eat
Obviously, you will counting either calories or carbs, based on the Curves for women program.
Both diets require a protein shake every day when on the jumpstart and target phases.
At least eight glasses of water should be drunk every day, as well.
The diet menu plans include:
• Low fat dairy products …
• Fruit …
• Vegetables …
• Whole grains …
• Lean meat …
You will also have a list of “free foods” from which you can eat as often and as much as you choose.
All dieters are advised to swallow a multi-vitamin every day.
Depending on your age and physical condition, other supplements may be recommended.
My Personal Experience With Curves …
The Curves diet plan is a reasonably healthy way to lose weight But can you lose weight without dieting? That is, can you lose weight with the Curves exercise alone? Based on my personal experience, the answer is a firm and clear: it depends. :-)
Age and physical condition make a great deal of difference. When I attended Curves, I didn’t follow any diet plan and I didn’t lose any weight. BUT … I did firm up and my clothes fit much better so it looked as though I had lost weight.
Why didn’t I follow their diet? Because the nutritionist insisted that I needed to eat meat and I simply don’t eat flesh. Period.
Which leads us to the single biggest problem with Curves: the cost. Going to the gym three days each week certainly isn’t free.
But you can retrain your body to burn fat in a more efficient way. And unlike some diet plans – the Abs Diet plan, for instance – Curves is a diet created just for women. Just don’t think you will be losing weight quickly. Most likely, you won’t.
