Yes, I went through my morning torture craving (see Day 1) and wanted my forbidden frozen cappuccino. At one point I just decided, "The hell with it!" and started on my way to QT. For some unknown reason, though, I was able to stop and turn around and came home. I felt really angry and resentful however. Some of my questions were:
Why can’t I eat whatever I want?
Why is life so unfair?
Do I really want to do this?
Why can’t I be one of those lucky ones who can eat and drink everything they want and still be thin and healthy?
Damn, damn, damn!
Christmas As A Kid
When I was a kid growing up my parents weren’t big on sweets. Instead of being an every day occurrence the way kids are today, sweet stuff was an occasional tree in my house. (The only exception was when I went to my grandmothers houses because both of them always had cookies. :-)
But one of my favorite things about Christmas as a child was that I got to eat my favorite candy: chocolate covered cherries! I loved, adored, worshipped, chocolate covered cherries!!! And there was always a box or two of this wonderful treat in our house during the Christmas holidays. Everybody else in the family knew they had better eat fast or they wouldn’t get any because I would gobble every single one of them down. Then want more …
So I tried to create a chocolate cherry drink this morning, to replace my calorie-laden, fat-laden, sugar-laden frozen cappuccino – and I succeeded. And it’s wonderful! I like it even better than the drink I’ve been buying at the QT which is an incredible miracle. Here’s what I did:
A small amount of almond milk
About half a sack of organic cherries
A spoonful of dark chocolate cocoa
Vanilla
Stevia
I’ve put all of this in my VitaMix and turned it into a very dark chocolate slushy that tastes very much like my beloved chocolate covered cherries. Some comments on this fabulous drink:
First of all, I’m not sure if a regular blender can manage this drink? I have a VitaMix and it’s an indispensable piece of kitchen equipment. A VitaMix is fairly expensive but it has so many uses that it’s invaluable.
If you’re going to make a rich, slushy drink like this, always put the milk or other liquid in first. If you put frozen fruit in first and then frozen fruit on top, often it will sort of ‘freeze’ to the sides and you will have a terrible time getting it to work.
I can’t tell you exactly how much milk, chocolate, etc. I put in my drink. The milk was just enough to turn it into a slush and the chocolate just suited my taste. I put in a lot of chocolate! :-)
And the beauty of this yummy stuff is that it is totally on my Eat To Live diet. Hallelujah!
My ‘How To Lose Weight Naturally’ Day …
This healthy weight loss program is going fine. Eating beans, vegetables and fruit is no hardship. One thing I have noticed though is that the last two days I have had a headache in the morning and been fairly irritable. I don’t know if it’s because I’m detoxing from the cappuccino which has a lot of caffeine in it? Time will tell.
