If you’re about to eat a cucumber, perhaps you should re-think that decision – unless you absolutely know where the cuke came from. Like your own backyard. Why? Because according to the Communicable Disease Center there have been 838 cases of salmonella from cucumbers from Mexico.

These are the latest reported figures but they’re from October 21 so are a month out of date. Since four people have died from these salmonella-laced cucumbers, it might be wise to give this veggie a pass for now.
