I started my body cleanse this morning, as planned. I will post my food intake the following day, obviously, since I don’t know yet about today’s menu. I can tell you what I’ve done so far.
My Liver Cleansing Diet Supplements
There are multiple supplements that I’m taking, some of which are ‘regular’ and a couple are for my Graves disease.
Multiple vitamin: no mystery there
Copper: for my Graves disease
Magnesium: Graves disease
Astaxanthin: the most powerful anti-oxidant I know
Vitamin C: my chiropractor insists that I need this very badly
Milk thistle: recommended by the liver cleansing doctor
Taurine: recommended by the liver cleansing doctor
Dandelion: recommended by the liver cleansing doctor
Colloidial minerals: most of us are more mineral-deficient than vitamin deficient
Water & Fiber
I’m using psyllium husks for fiber on my liver cleansing diet. It’s implied in The Liver Cleansing Diet, rather than being emphasized, but I know psyllium is a natural colon cleanse. I don’t have any problems with constipation (knock on wood) but it definitely can’t hurt.
And now we come to water … in case you don’t know this, taking fiber without getting adequate water is a prescription for disaster! You will get very ‘stopped up’, if you get my meaning.
I’ve never had any objection to wter – I just get busy and forget. The answer: the Motivaider! It’s a marvelous little tool and can be used anywhere. I like it for two main reasons:
1. It vibrates, rather than making a noise so you can slip it in your pocket and use it as a water (or anything else) reminder without anyone else being the wiser
2. It re-sets itself. Some timers don’t – you have to reprogram them each time they go off. Those are totally useless! I have mine set for 12 minutes and whenever it goes off I drink a swallow of water. So I drink it in small amounts during the day instead of trying to gulp glasses full later at night. Plus, I don’t have to think about it. Good deal.
What I’ve Consumed So Far Today on Day 1 of My Cleansing Diet
First, a glass of lemon water, as specified in The Liver Cleansing Diet.
The freshly squeezed juice recipe as specified in the book.
A salad. Yep, I had a salad for breakfast. I’m one of those lucky folks who really likes salad.
Today’s Biggest Challenge On My Cleansing Diet
The biggest change is something I desperately need to practice – eating slowly and chewing thoroughly. I was a school teacher for 25 years and got into the habit of bolting my food since I usually had 10-15 minutes to eat. Hard habit to break but a worthwhile effort. Digestion of carbs begins in the mouth with our saliva, plus our digestion is a lot more efficient if we’ve truly chewed our food, rather than sending huge chunks down for our poor body to handle.
After only a few hours on my detox diet plan, it’s been a swimming success so far. Funny, huh? A few measly hours. Still, it’s better than nothing. And if you’re interested in a body cleanse, don’t forget the Motivaider. It’s an incredibly valuable tool.
