Safe Skin Care & The Critical Need For Safe Skin Care Products

Written by Sydney Johnston Leave a Comment

Naturally, we all want a young and gorgeous face but too often we don’t think about the consequences of our skin care regime. What we absolutely MUST focus on is SAFE skin care. After all, is it really worth it to spend time and energy creating a smooth and unwrinkled face – but destroy our health doing it?

When I first began searching for safe skin care products, I thought it would be fairly easy.

WRONGO!

"Why Do You Say My Skincare Products Aren’t Safe? I Buy Everything From Well Known Brands & National Companies."

Fact: we can’t always trust what the ads say. For example, can you look at this list and guess what each one has in common?

* Turtle oil
* Chicken embryo
* Horse blood
* Pigskin
* Human placenta
* Pig brains
* Cow amniotic fluid

These are raw materials actually used in certain beauty products!

Who Is Responsible For Overseeing Safety In The Skin Care Industry?

The sad truth is that if you live in the US, don’t expect the Food & Drug Adminstration to guarantee your safety. Cosmetic products and ingredients are not subject to FDA premarket approval authority, with the exception of color additives.

So who is responsible for substantiating the safety of skin care products? The cosmetic manufacturers! Isn’t that a hoot? Sort of like the prisoners running the penitentiary.

And if you don’t live in the US, don’t assume your situation is much different. Beauty companies can promise almost anything they like and get away with it.

Maybe The Chemicals Aren’t THAT Dangerous?

Some of these chemicals are linked to cancer, birth defects and other serious health problems that are on the rise in the human population. Major loopholes in federal law allow the $35 billion cosmetics industry to put unlimited amounts of chemicals into personal care products with no required testing, no monitoring of health effects, and inadequate labeling requirements.

Perhaps a small amount of chemical in a single skin care product wouldn’t be too worrisome. But every human being in a first world country is exposed to multiple chemicals every single day. Not only are there gigantic numbers of chemicals, but we have literally no idea how they react to each further.

Further, throw all of these nasties into an oven – a biological oven that ‘bakes’ at 98.6 degrees – and who knows what will happen?

Without insisting on safe skin care products, we are simply playing Russian roulette with our health and well being.

When we don't militantly count our blessings, the voices in our head start jabbering, telling us that life sucks, that we suck.
