Solutions for Stretch Marks, Scars, and Vitiligo

Written by Margaret Acklin Leave a Comment

When a person ages, the skin loses elasticity and decreases collagen production. You often see it via wrinkles and other fine lines on the face. You try to repair some of those by taking skin vitamins such as Vitamin E and C. But other parts of your body also alert you to the signs of aging. Stretch marks, scars, and vitiligo are other skin abnormalities that can show up at specific times of one’s life. These are usually permanent, but there are ways to minimize the appearance. Specialized clinics like La Klinic offer necessary solutions for these three problems that can act as camouflage.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are veiny lines which can be white, red, pink, purple, dark brown, or reddish-brown depending on your skin color. These can be very shallow or deep lines, depending on severity. Women often associate it with pregnancy since the tummy stretches out to accommodate the growth of new life within their bodies. But it can also come from growth spurts during puberty, muscle gain due to workouts, and rapid weight gain or loss. Certain hereditary illnesses such as Marfan syndrome weaken muscle fibers, and can also cause vulnerability to stretch marks.

One way to camouflage stretch marks is a combination of:

  • Micro-needling – stimulates the production of collagen for cell renewal.

  • Micro-pigmentation – adding pigments to match your skin tone.

Medical tattooing is also an option to hide the unsightly lines.

Scars

Skin is like the overall fabric of the body. A tear in the form of an injury, trauma, or a burn can result in a scar. It is nothing to be afraid of since it is a natural part of healing when the body gets a wound. Protection of the injury is the reason why scars happen since the body heals the tear underneath the skin. Many scars fade over time, especially the ones you get from childhood. But most scars never go away completely. Also, some injuries hamper movement – such as a keloid-forming one – and may need surgical removal. Before any treatment, though, it is recommended that a wound-based scar should be at least one year old already and fully healed.

Lessening the visibility of the scar may need professional procedures. Aside from laser surgery, the use of temporary injections for collagen and other fillers is possible. But lasting results come from micro-pigmentation and micro-needling, especially if the scars are acne-related.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is the most noticeable out of all three skin conditions. It occurs when the skin does not produce enough melanin. It could happen at any age, but it usually comes out before a person is twenty years old. It may be related to family history or an immune system disorder that destroys and attacks melanocytes (or melanin-producing cells) in the skin. Unfortunately, it has no cure. The current treatment for vitiligo only lessens the visible skin discoloration. Micro-pigmentation is an efficient remedy by careful blending of the vitiligo-hit parts of the skin and the normal skin tone.

While women commonly suffer from these issues, men are not immune to them either. If it is a bother to you, then fear not. There are professional and aesthetic clinics such as LA Klinic that could help find remedies for each one. If you have tried home remedies for these three conditions, then you know that they do not work. Consider getting professional treatment for a more effective outcome.
