I love the work of artist Sophie Anderson. Look at this gorgeous little girl who was one of her best works, IMO, and see if you don’t agree? The title of the painting is Turtle Dove and it’s for sale in our BRAND NEW shop as a cross stitch pattern. (Sorry for the excitement, but it’s so new that I’m still like a little kid … :-)
Sophie (1823-1903) was born in France but later lived in England and the US. She specialized in painting children (mostly girls) and women in rural settings. And if you think Ms. Anderson was a ‘minor’ artist, know that recently one of her pieces sold for over a million dollars. Not Picasso prices, for sure, but a w-h-o-l-e more than any of my art. Or yours, I’m guessing?
Stay tune for more of Sophie Anderson’s art. It’s beautiful and there’s a lot of us. And if you’re a cross stitcher, you might want to re-create her gorgeous Turtle Dove in threads, rather than paints.
