We recently posted about growing green onions from the roots of green onions from the store. I can cheerfully announce that my experiment is a success! I cut off the roots and placed them in some water and waited for the little dudes to do their thing.
Here they are after about 2 1/2 days.
And here they are a week later.
Next step: plant them outside. One of the great things about green onions is that they’re loaded with vitamin K which is harder to get than lots of other vitamins.
The onions I bought in the store weren’t organic, but these will be. It will be a while before all the pesticides grow out although I have no idea how long that will take? Still, they’re bound to be better than those from the store, in terms of quality, and they’re definitely better in terms of price. :-)
