We all long for a healthy head of hair but often find that our hair looks dull and lifeless, even showing signs of hair loss. Hair health begins on the inside and there are changes you can make to your life to keep your hair healthy and full of life!
A Healthy Diet
I know you’ve heard it all before, but your diet is a key factor for keeping your body healthy, and believe it or not, this includes your hair!
Eating a healthy balanced diet, including a wide variety of fruits and vegetables can help you on your way to a healthy head of hair. Why not try and eat the recommended amount of 5 different fruit and vegetables every day? And remember, keep it colourful … the more variety, the better!
Protein is the central component of your hair, so a protein-rich diet is extremely important for a healthy head of hair.
Lean meat, fish, eggs, tofu, soy milk, avocados, nuts and beans are all primary sources of protein and can all be included in your diet to ensure that your hair can grow and repair itself.
Eat plenty of fish. Many healthy hair supplements, including Nourkrin, contain fish extracts. Fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids which have shown to improve the strength and shine of hair.
Water
Drinking water keeps our bodies hydrated and our hair moisturised, allowing hair to grow more quickly and strongly, with a healthy shine! We should drink around 1.2 litres of fluid every day, adding up to about eight 150ml glasses. Water is the healthiest choice for tackling your thirst at any time and contains no calories or sugars.
Keep it interesting! If you don’t like, or get bored with the taste of plain water, why not try sparkling water or add a slice of lemon or lime? You could also add some squash or fruit juice for flavour.
Sleep
Sleep plays an important role in allowing the body to repair and regenerate, and this includes your hair. If you are not sleeping for the recommended 8 hours a night, you may not be allowing your body the regeneration period it needs for healthy hair. So make sure you are getting plenty of sleep!
Relax
Stress can trigger hair loss. But stress and hair loss don’t have to be permanent! By reducing the stress in your day to day life, you can reduce the risk of hair loss considerably.
