A Simple Cough Cure?

Written by Sydney Johnston 10 Comments

I found this interesting cough cure online yesterday. I have no clue if it works – and I REALLY don't want a cough so that I can test it!!! :-) – but if anyone out there does have a cough, give it a try and let the rest of us know. Thanks in advance …

*********************************

"Some of us used Vicks Vapor rub for years for everything from chaped lips to sore toes, and many body parts in between. But I've never heard of this. And don't laugh, it works 100% of the time, although the scientisits who discovered it aren't sure why. To stop night time coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally) put Vicks Vapor rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In add it is extremely soothing and comforting and they sleep soundly."

Vicks VapoRub is really effective, my parents use it frequently in winter. Here in India, it’s very popular and there’ll be few who won’t have heard of it here. It’s commercials (ads) are also pretty attractive.

Wow… I thought I used Vicks Vapor Rub for everything I could already; now I have one more use for it. Definitely a good piece of information to know!

There are so many gimmicks out there claiming to cure the common cold. I have seen product after product come and go, but not yet has one worked. I think we have made more progress in cancer research than we have for the cold.

I haven’t tried that but I love the smell of camphor and will give it a try this winter (when my feet are cold :-).

the skin on your feet is very thin in the arch so chemicals can potentially be absorbed into the blood placing the sock over your foot keeps all of it in close proximity to the skin for better absorption, your lungs are much more suited to absorbing things although the cilia (tiny hairs on the cells in your throat designed to push dust and dirt out of the lungs and into the mouth) and mucus in your throat hinder this effect

William, thanks so much for your feedback. None of us knew that the ‘arch skin’ is so easily able to absorb substances, in this case Vicks Vapor rub. So perhaps this cough cure might actually work. (Jessica Taylor)
