Aerobic Step Equipment = ENERGY!

Written by Sydney Johnston 4 Comments

If you’ve finally, FINALLY decided that it’s time to get in shape – and more importantly, get some ENERGY – then you should think about purchasing your own aerobic step equipment to use at home. There’s more than one reason for buying your own home machine and the first is that you can work out on YOUR schedule – no driving anywhere. Keeping your money, rather than doling it out to a gym or health club, is an additional powerful motivation for purchasing your own aerobic step workout equipment.

What Is Step Aerobics?

Working the lungs is the meaning of aerobic exercise, which comes from the Greek word for ‘air’. This includes fast walking, running, skipping, swimming, cycling, dance and step aerobics. Step aerobics at a gym or exercise class usually involves danciing as well as the movements on the step. Aerobic exercise is the best way for most people to achieve their fitness goals and as a side beneift (ha!) it is also great for weight loss.

Why Step Aerobics Is Powerful

Blizzard outside? Thermometer falling fast? You won’t give a hoot with a step aerobics machine in your house. Aerobic step equipment is is easy to practice with and easy of the budget. All that’s necessary is the basic step bench. The aerobics step workout system is much, much cheaper than other home exercise equipment.

Unlike big ticket fitness equipment, not much space is required for the aerobic step bench. You can put it on a book shelf or beneath a bed and you can exercise in virtually no space. This means your new equipment can be used in the most crowded of living spaces.

What Is A Step Aerobics Workout?

A step aerobics workout simply calls for stepping up and down off a bench. This stepping is quite strenuous since it is done to lively music. Because the legs have to lift the body up each time, stepping works the legs and buttocks much more strongly than almost any other kind of exercise. Your cardiovascular system will be dramatically improved and you will grow in strength with the strenuous activity required for  stepping.

Caveats For Using Aerobic Step Equipment

Most folks are greatly benefitted by this kind of exercise, but very overweight people should be aware that your joints can be stressed and perhaps refrain from doing it. Be aware that balance is a ‘must’ for successful step aerobics so if this is an issue for you, avoid this kind of exercise.

Using The Aerobic Step Bench Safely

* Take the time to stretch and move a bit before beginning.

* The bench shouldn’t be uncomfortably high, and stop when you are tired. When we get tired, it’s easy to misstep and hurt ourselves.

* Wear properly fitted athletic shoes instead of bedroom slippers, flip flops or slippery socks.

* Be at a comfortable distance from the bench so that you don’t have to stretch too far to step up.

* Keep your bearings about you so that you don’t accidentally step off the edge and fall on your face. Being aware will prevent any accidents.

If used wisely, aerobic step equipment builds energy, increases stamina and peels off pounds. Quite an impressive array of benefits for a plastic bench!

Nothing burns fat faster than lean muscle. If you have a 4 cylinder engine (no muscle) under your hood then you can only burn a small amount of fat but with good muscle mass you have a V-8 engine that will burn it like nothing else does. Nothing makes a diet more successful than using the right exercise program.

Like many people I am very conscious about other people seeing me exercise and so have avoided the gym for years. Recently, however, I decided that I really needed to do something as I was getting very out of shape and so I have started setting up and outfitting a gym at home. Among the few pieces of equipment I added so far is an aerobic step bench and I have to say that it is working wonders. Using it twice a day with some accompanying music is really great fun and doesn’t seem like hard work at all.

Step aerobics is the perfect cardio workout for those of us who live in apartment buildings, as well. This is an intense workout, but not so intense that you will have the downstairs neighbors banging on your door. Thank you for this post!

These are good tips for saving money and keeping in shape. It also saves a lot of time spent traveling to and from the gym. One thing I especially like about exercising at home is that you can do it while watching movies, television, or listening to the radio.
