When I was 11 years old, I stayed awake almost all night, crying in pain. The reason was that I had a broken ear drum, although we didn't know it at the time. It took weeks to heal and I remember starting to shake when I saw the doctor because I knew he was going to dig dried blood out of my ear (actually, even writing these words makes me a bit queasy – that's how much it hurt). Anyway, my family didn't know about home remedies which might have relieved the pain. Don't misunderstand … in a case of severe ear aches we should ALWAYS go to the doctor. But having a few home remedies for earaches on hand is wise, especially if any of your family members are prone to them. Why suffer needlessly?
One way to prevent ear aches is to invert yourself on a regular basis. Some people will lie on an ironing board and there are inversion tables or even air mattresses that are lower on one end. I used one for years and loved it until it finally got too many holes to remain inflated. The circulation to your ears increases their health – and ditto for your eyes, brain, scalp, etc. Who would have thought such a simple natural remedy could be so powerful? :-)
