An unhealthy lifestyle shouldn’t be part of one’s vocabulary at all. However, there are those who find it hard to stick to their work out plan and continue to live unhealthy citing reasons such as work or no time to exercise. While you think that there are number of reasons why you should not exercise, there are even more reasons why you need to get up and move. With these 7 simple steps, you will surely lose their extra pounds in no time.
1. Set Goals
In trying to lose weight, one should set goals and use that as a motivation. Are you doing it for health reasons? Do you want to improve your physical appearance? Are you being pressured to exercise because you are overweight or you simply want to do this for yourself and make you feel good? Keep those goals in mind whenever you feel like quitting in order motivating yourself.
2. Know Your Capabilities and Limitations
Not all forms of exercises are applicable to all kinds of people. In choosing a workout plan, determine first what suits your personality and fitness level. If you like engaging into sports, join a team that plays the sport which interests you most. Otherwise, go to a recreation near you and inquire about the available sports facilities where you can harness those skills.
If you like seeing and interacting with a lot of people, join group classes such as Yoga, Zumba or any dance class. But if you’re more on a homebody type, there are various exercises that can be done at home such as pushups, squats, lunges, jump rope or running.
3. Seek Professional Advice
If you are unsure of what type of workout plan is suitable for you, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Trainers are experienced individuals that are used to carving out a plan depending on one’s personality, strength and physical condition and they might have something that will work for you.
4. Stick to the Plan!
The problem with most individuals is that they don’t finish off what they started. Choosing to start losing weight is only a part of the whole weight loss program and trying to reach that desired body is another. Don’t set aside your workout and come up with hundreds of reasons to do it later. The more you brush it off aside, the more delay it will cost you and you won’t be able to achieve your goal. Commitment is the key towards achieving a healthy body.
5. Consider Alternatives
Exercising can become a bore so spice it up and continuously seek for other methods to lose those extra pounds. Take a bike for a week then run the following week. If you are a member at the gym, attend some classes if you feel that treadmill is already wearing you out. There are various workouts available and although it is advisable to stick to the plan at least for 8 weeks, don’t be afraid to try out other methods.
6. Take It Easy
Losing weight can be exciting, especially when you feel that there is an improvement. However, you shouldn’t pressure yourself too much otherwise, it may result to burnout or worse, injuries. Slow down and dedicate twice a week of your schedule. When you feel you are strong enough, gradually increase the number of times you exercise in a week.
7. Be Realistic
Aside from setting realistic goals, choose realistic exercise programs that are more suitable for you. One’s body has limitations so if you think you cannot do it, then choose another work out that will work best for you.
