There is an intense interest in both bodybuilding and fitness in our country. Body building is especially interesting because it used to be just for young guys, but no longer. There are lots of women and older men who invest the time to create a fabulous body.
I admit that I'm not a fan of the bodybuilding-magazine-cover folks with the bulging veins. Ugh. But there's no reason to look like that. You can still be in superb shape without looking a bit … freakish. Want to know my ideal woman, physically speaking? It's Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. If I could pick a body out of a magazine and have mine be just like that, hers is the body I would choose. Still, I've lost 58.4 pounds so far and am moving in that direction.
So, if you're interested in bodybuilding, fitness or exercise, here's a page on BlissPlan that will be frequently updated as we move through this fascinating subject. We won't include everything, though, so that you won't faint when you look at the page. :-)

When I was losing weight, I lifted weights instead of doing the cardio that most women do. Building muscle is a very important component of exercise even when you are trying to lose weight. Women tend to be afraid to build muscle but when they don’t work on that, they are missing out on a quick and effective way of staying in shape.
BlissPlan says
Sasha, I use weights too – both free weights and my weight machine. I use them for two reasons:
1) My mom had osteoporosis and I don’t ever want that horrible problem.
2) Muscle requires a lot more calories than fat so it’s easier to stay lean and in shape.
Dee Cooke says
You are so right about building muscle. Muscle helps increase our bodies natural metabolizim; thus, burning more calories naturally. I have noticed that when I build muscle, I don’t loose much weight because the muscle is heavier than fat. I usually notice that my clothes start to fit a lot better. I think some women find that building muscle and loosing a lot of weight do not go hand in hand a lot of times…just because the muscle is heavier than fat.

Bodybuilding & Fitness Center is getting popular for build up body and well being. It is really true that many old men as well as women go to Bodybuilding & Fitness Center regularly. This article contains valuable information about bodybuilding. I would like to thank for sharing this.
BlissPlan says
Good for ‘old men’. :-) Living ‘x’ number of years is no excuse for becoming a sedentary blob as so many of us do. That’s really a shame when we humans allow ourselves to deteriorate.

This was an intensely interesting article. I have often wondered what it would be like to be mastering the laws of attraction. It is something we all aspire to and dream of and now the secrets are finally unlocked.
BradParkman says
Great write up. I’m tired of all the feminine work out routines to help women get in the perfect hour glass shape while leaving guys with almost no options other than the steroid induced Hulk look. It’s good to see some content to help motivate and point us in the right direction of looking good and feeling good, with good tone and shape without the bulging veins and muscles
BlissPlan says
Brad, you mean you don’t want to have green skin and look like The Hulk? :-) I agree totally – it’s not very attractive. Have you ever looked at the guys on the front of those body building magazines? Yuck!
Raine says
Linda Hamilton is my ideal too :) Sometimes I think I have a difficult body type to work with. I’m receptive to new techniques and ideas to keep myself fit, so I’ll be checking out the posts.
BlissPlan says
Way to go, Raine! The way she looks in Terminator 2 is so incredibly awesome! She was living proof (she’s dead now, sadly) that women can build muscle without looking like a steroid-bulging guy. I’ve tried to find a poster of her from T2 to use as inspiration but have been unsuccessful so far. :-(

Building muscle is a great way to replace fat and is a great option instead of purely cardio based work outs. A bit of muscle tone always looks great, as long as its not too overboard!
BlissPlan says
I know what you mean about ‘overboard’. I don’t know why anyone wants to see their veins protruding? Yet that seems to be a goal of serious body builders. Eeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwwwww!
Mary says
I am lucky to be born with great metabolism, so if i work out too much–I do look a bit freakish. Freakish thin. There’s some great ideas here and I’m glad to have read this. Straight cardio just kills me as it is. I love to mix and match and want to get a bit of muscle tone in my arms especially to avoid hangy skin.
Gen says
I have been reading this more and more lately, that adding weights to your weight loss routine is a great way to burn fat. It makes since as lean muscle actually burns fat. I think it is great that you have lost close to 60 pounds. It is also great that you are sharing your experience. Thank you for sharing what you are doing and how having weights in your routine has helped you.
BlissPlan says
It’s amazing but I actually ENJOY using weights – unlike lots of other exercise programs. And when we enjoy doing something, it’s much easier to stick with it. It’s very meditative, instead of throwing our bodies around in a frenzy.
nana says
wow ….I believe that muscle building something very beautiful and gives the body a beautiful shape
BlissPlan says
I’m not sure what you’re saying? Do you mean that building muscle makes a body beautiful? If so, you are absolutely right!
Moses Jones says
I myself do not find the “bodybuilders” and their extremely big physique to be impressive. They don’t look like they can move. I am working on building muscle myself. I am incorporating a little bit of martial arts into my work out as well. My goal is to have a body that is like Jason Statham’s, Michael Jai White’s or anyone who is not all that big, but still muscular.
BlissPlan says
I LOVE the way Jason Statham looks! He’s tough and strong without looking like a muscle-bound freak. So cool.
TheClog17 says
I agree, I don’t find the intense physical shape of body builders to be attractive either. Personally, I opt for a more toned appearance, and I work specifically on my abs and biceps with simple exercises like press ups and crunches. I will be very interested to learn more from this page! :)
BlissPlan says
I’m willing to bet you look better than those muscle-bound guys with their veins popping out!

To stay in shape my daughter and I participate in tae kwon do lessons! It is great strength training and conditioning for the body! Not to mention the added peace of mind of being about to defend yourself in case the situation arises!

Yeah this website provides the best information to the readers. I liked it and even bookmarked it for further information.
Jamie Northrup says
I really need to get fit and in shape, I’m not looking for the bodybuilder body neither, just some well toned abs, arms and legs, although my legs are already pretty good, and the arms can get a little bigger, but the abs are the big issue.
mikeyugo says
How nice to see the way that help motivate and point us in the right direction of looking good.thanks so much.
BlissPlan says
We all want to look good but it’s even more important to be healthy and feel good.

Gotta start losing some weight, eh!
Lila says
I burst out laughing when I read what you wrote about Linda Hamilton! That is EXACTLY how I want to look. But it’s not just about looking fantastic. I want to feel fantastic, and be healthy and strong. I hope I can find more information about being healthy here.
BlissPlan says
I LOVE the way she looked! We have to look great in a healthy way, though. Some people have killed themsevles – literally – with their so-called health plan. Linda, smoked, unfortunately and she died of cancer. Feeling physically fabulous is just a pearl beyond price.

I think most women worry that we’re going to look like those guys on the covers of magazines with the bulging muscles and veins sticking out. But we’re not – women have to take steroids to look like that. The best reason for women to do body building, I think, is because it makes our bones so much stronger.
Miguel says
Congrats on loosing that much weight by bodybuilding. I’m starting myself and I already lost 3 pounds more to go. I’ll take a look at those guides so they can help me with my bodybuilding. Thanks.

Three pounds is a great start. Congrats!
