I committed to one month (June) of trying a wheat free, gluten free lifestyle, after I read Wheat Belly. It’s officially one month now and I am thrilled to report my results.
1. First, I’ve lost an astounding 14 pounds!!! If you find that hard to believe, your astonishment is nothing compared to mine. After all this time of not being able to lose weight, 14 pounds is thrilling and amazing. Obviously, I have some sensitivity or allergy or whatever to either wheat or gluten.
2. All the feeling of ‘bloat’ disappeared in the first three to four days.
3. And all of my cravings have disappeared, which is another astonishment. I’m hungry in the morning but the rest of the day, not so much. In fact, I’ve chosen not to eat several times. I’m not using grit-my-teeth-willpower … I just don’t care about food and eating. If anyone had told me this would happen, I probably would not have believed her or him.
My only disappointment is that many folks have mentioned that their asthma and breathing improved but that hasn’t happened for me – at least not yet.
So my conclusion after one month: I’m quitting this new lifestyle.
Just kidding. I’m a convert. It’s a gluten free, wheat free life for me for the foreseeable future. If you decide to try this also, please let me know how it goes.
