Positive Self Image: Improve Your Self Image & Lose Weight

Simply losing weight isn’t enough – at least it isn’t enough for wise people, because we must lose weight in a way that improves our health. But all the books and guides focus on weight loss as an external process (eat less, move more, etc). The truth is that a positive self image is more powerful than all the externals will ever be. In fact, weight loss often follows any attempt, no matter how small, to improve your self image.

TRUTH: focusing exclusively on the physical parts of weight loss, often results in a "disconnect" from our mental self-image. For instance, did you ever spot yourself in a mall reflection – and gasped at the way you looked? "I can’t believe how my stomach bulges!" " Look how tight my jeans are!" These moments are so shocking because of the disconnect between our mental self image and our outward appearance.

Weight loss isn’t simply physical. We also need to alter our negative mental view into a positive self image. I practice visualizing the way I would like my body to look. I imagine walking down the street in white pants {the ULTIMATE challenge, garment-wise}that feel comfortable and look great. What we are on the inside will definitely, over time, affect what we are on the outside.

In addition, we will adjust our behavior naturally, easily, to our new positive self image, once it truly becomes a part of us. Bottom line: the more you practice your beautiful new self-image, the more easily you will transform to the body of your dreams.

Yes, this IS more important than rigid calorie following and exercise obsession! Losing weight is an inside job and it doesn’t need to be miserable and onerous!

So, today, tonight, this minute, take the time to create an exact mental picture of how you want to look. Remember, you don’t just want to be "thin" – whatever that means to you. Be sure to include healthy, vibrant, energetic and every other quality you desire. Include as much detail as possible and then begin to focus on this "new" person. Think like this new person. Move like this new person. Act like this new person. Then your weight will automatically adjust to match your gorgeous new and positive self image. The more you improve your self image, the faster your new body will appear in physical reality.
