If my kids were 8-12 or my granddaughter was old enough, I'd sign them up for a sleepover at the National Archives Building in Washington DC on August 2.
According to their website info, the kids will get to see our country's greatest documents, the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and The Bill of Rights. There are games (and pancakes the next morning :-) "Campers will journey to the Arctic, visit Outer Space, and discover the American West as they explore the National Archives Museum’s treasured records." What a great way to spend the night!
