The strong link between blood circulation and exercise is simply another fabulous reason to exercise – in addition to weight loss and other health benefits. Indeed, when we exercise for circulation , we are certain to increase our energy. In fact, instead of the famous ‘vicious circle’, we have a wonderful ‘positive circle’ beginning …
Increase in blood circulation ===> endurance
Increase in blood circulation ===> efficiency
Endurance & efficiency ===> more coordination
All of the above ===> more circulation & better performance
As your blood circulation improves via exercise, that exercising will become easier to do and more enjoyable, resulting in more desire to exercise. This results in increasingly greater levels of fitness and cardiovascular health. The increased efficiency of lung and heart circulation will increase efficient delivery of oxygen to your muscles.
Example: the “average” person uses about 250 cc. of oxygen per minute, when at rest. (Naturally, there is no average person and your personal score may be higher or lower).
However, when participating in endurance activities we may use 4,000 cc. per minute.
Clearly, this kind of activity has profound effects on the human body and, if not carried to excess, is highly favorable.
The Schneider Fitness Test: Blood Circulation & Exercise Confirmation
The Schneider test is a way to understand your individual endurance, blood circulation and general fitness. There are four simple measurements in this test:
Reclining pulse rate: the subject will lie down for five minutes and her/his heart rate is tested every minute until two consecutive counts are the same.
Standing pulse rate: The person being tested stands for two minutes while her/his heart rate is measured until two readings are identical. Obviously this might take longer than two minutes.
Next, the reclining pulse rate should be subtracted from the standing pulse tempo.
Pulse rate after exercise: the subject will use a 15 second window to step up and down, five times, on a stool that is 18 1/2 inches tall. Within the next two minutes, the blood circulation and pulse rate should return to the standing pulse rate level mentioned above. If it does not, record the number of beats above the standing pulse rate.
These kinds of simple tests will reveal not only the link between blood circulation and exercise but also the genuine need for ALL of us to concentrate on exercise for circulation of our blood and health of our body, especially organs like our heart and brain.
