There are a multitude of reasons for wanting a fit, strong and muscular body and each person's reasons are different. But one thing is for sure: without glowing health, a strong body will not be admired by the world. So no matter how strong your desire to be fit, don't sacrifice your health to reach your goal. And body building supplements can destroy or create so it's critical to choose wisely.
For instance, anyone who is overweight and hates that fact might consider losing the flab through liposuction, a cosmetic surgery that sucks out fat. Clearly, an operation is not a trivial happening so unnecessary surgery is not healthy for your body and we all know this no matter how much we might try to deny it. Exercise and careful diet are the healthy ways to have the body of a Greek god. Even though folks sometimes get discouraged at first because muscle weighs more than fat, and they believe they are gaining weight, the reality is that muscle burns fat. If you increase the amount of muscle on your body you will much more efficiently burn fat – even when you're asleep.
Of course, being human, we want a great looking body as fast as possible. Fitness doesn't happen overnight and long-term discipline is required. The good news is that there are healthy and legal supplements that will speed up the development of muscle. Just remember that they are aids in the process and can't do the job without effort on your part. Scarfing down handfuls of "muscle gain" supplements, while eating an entire Meat Lovers pizza, won't create the body of your dreams.
"Should I Take Workout Supplements?"
Before taking ANY bodybuilding supplement, ask some questions and make certain you are clear about what you're taking, and what you can expect:
What benefit will this supplement provide for my body?
Does the promised benefit mesh with my goals?
Is it safe both long term and short term?
Is it legal?
What amount should I take?
What is the cost and can I justify it as part of my program?
Am I buying from a reputable company or a fly-by-night scam?
Here are three supplements that can skyrocket a fitness program but always answer the questions above before taking anything at all!
Repair Your Body With A Glutamine Supplement
A glutamine supplement is great for for bodybuilders and athletes. When we exercise our body and muscles, we naturally do some damage and that muscle must be repaired. Glutamine is an amino acid that is naturally found in muscle tissue and helps to repair any damage. Rest and sleep are the best way to repair anything, however a generous amount of glutamine will aid in this process.
Glutamine has a second great benefit and that is that it strengthens your body's immune system. This lessens your chance of doing damage or of getting sick which is always a great thing.
Oxygenate Your Muscles With Nitric Acid (NO2)
NO2, or nitric oxide, is also required by the body because it helps to oxygenate your muscles. The use of arginine is a sometimes a furious controversy. Many athletes swear that it is of inestimable value to them. Others, however, say that we can't get enough of it to make much difference to performance and that the side effects – like diarrhea – are too unpleasant to make this supplement worthwhile.
The wise way to expand your supply of nitric acid is to take 'facilitators' or 'precursors'. Two of these are arginine (an amino acid) and alpha- ketoglutarate, a substance that expands the blood vessels. This combination stimulates the body to increase its own production of NO2 which is a much safer way to increase nitric oxide. The more oxygen in the body, the more efficiently it works and the more immune it is to invaders and illness. An ample supply of NO2 will give your body more strength and increased endurance.
Protein Supplements: Whey Protein Absorbs More Easily Than Animal Protein
Building muscle requires protein, protein and more protein. Many athletes load themselves up on milk, eggs and meat and this helps to build muscle because the main building block of muscle is protein. However, many of these protein supplements, even though they're natural, are inefficiently absorbed. A better choice is whey protein because it will absorbed by the muscles much more quickly and much more completely than high-protein animal foods. The result will be an increased muscle mass in less time and those muscles will be stronger than those without ample protein.
There are many more bodybuilding supplements available to athletes. You can spend a good deal of money and a great deal of time popping pills every day. Just remember there are two criteria for choosing supplements. The first is that it is legal – none of us look good behind bars! And the second is that it will help your body without supplying negative side effects. If you apply these two rules of thumb you can develop your body more rapidly than you might have thought possible.

I like to think of protein powder now as more of a food than a supplement. I just wonder how safe it is to use constantly. Only time will tell.

You are so right! The need for oxygen in the body is well documented. It’s not just necessary for muscular development but is also critical for health. We think of breathing as an essentially passive activity, not realizing what a great wellness tool it is.
