One of the great challenges women, and moms in particular, face is the lack of free time. Being a mother is like being a juggler who never takes breaks: you need to handle work, your home, taking care of your kids, and having a relationship with your partner. It doesn't leave much time to spare.
The second challenge moms often face is financial, especially in this economy. Raising children can be expensive and you need to make sure that you're using your money wisely. For many moms, there's no loose money to spare.
Staying fit on such a hectic schedule is not an easy task. Doing so without spending a fortune makes it even harder. I believe that bodyweight training is an excellent way to stay fit on the busy lifestyle that many moms have without breaking the bank. Let me tell you why this is:
1. Bodyweight training can be done at home
This is probably the biggest advantage that bodyweight training has over traditional workouts. You can do this kind of training anywhere. You don't need to spend a lot of time commuting to the gym or going to fitness classes. You can do all of your workouts at home with your kids in the next room.
This is perfect for the stay at home mom or someone who just wants to be home after a long work day. Do bodyweight exercises and you should find it much easier to stay fit and lose weight.
2. Bodyweight training is cheap
Since you're training at home you can save the cost of a gym membership. In addition, you don't have to spend a lot of money on equipment or fitness machines. You can do quite well with very basic equipment like a pair of dumbbells and a stability ball. For the most part, your body is the equipment you're using and its weight is the source of resistance
What kind of bodyweight exercises can you do? Let's look at each body part:
Legs – squats, lunges, calf raises and leg lifts are great exercises.
Chest – push ups.
Back – pull up and chin up (this does require a cheap bar which you can hang on a door).
Abs – Bicycle crunches, plank, reverse crunches, and a variety of other exercises.
You can mix all sorts of bodyweight exercises to create diverse and interesting workouts. Now you can get fit cheaply and in a time efficient way.
