There’s a reason that the first meal of the day is named "break-fast" since we need to end a long period of not eating or end our fast. In fact, for most of us, the hours asleep are the longest period that we go without eating. So it’s important to consider some breakfast meal ideas that add nutrition to our daily routine.
You (hopefully!) spend six to eight hours sleeping each and every night. After that time, your body demands and insists upon fuel to keep going. Without a healthy breakfast menu, you may wind up eating way too much fat, a good deal more of sugar than is healthy and lot of excess carbs. And, going by the local junk food drive-through on your way to work isn’t such a good idea. The fifteen or twenty minutes you spend sitting in line could have been utilized to fill your belly with something fantastic at your kitchen table.
So, if you are the type to skip breakfast, here are some quick, healthy recipes that provide breakfast nutrition but don’t take too long. Easy breakfast ideas are definitely best – especially if you don’t have much time – which is most everybody. A superior breakfast will keep you from going hungry and give you the natural energy boost you need to have a great day.
1. Fruit smoothies – Breakfast smoothies are fantastic any early morning but especially on a hot day. You’ll need to blend the ingredients together when you’re ready to eat, but the prep to get the job done may be completed the night before. Cube your fruit and store it in a container. As opposed to frozen yogurt, use a cup of plain yogurt. Add ice cubes, a little water and blend. In the simple breakfast recipes category, this is as easy as it gets.
2. Yogurt with your own fruit and granola – Some of us fool ourselves by buying flavored yogurt and deceiving ourselves that it’s at the top of the list for nutritious and quick breakfast ideas. Quick, yes. Healthy, no. Add some granola and a few blueberries (or cherries or strawberries or blackberries) to your yogurt concoction. This makes a fantastic breakfast strategy for those mornings when you happen to be running late. Keep tiny bags of granola and berries inside the fridge, next to the yogurt, so you may grab them and move out the door. For delicious breakfast ideas try adding other goodies to your yogurt, like nuts or jam sweetened with juice, rather than sugar.
3. Egg sandwich – The eggs could very well be cooked the night before and placed in a sealed container. When you’re getting ready in the morning, warm up the eggs and, if you would like, throw in some chopped veggies or shredded cheese. Serve your best breakfast sandwich on toasted wheat bread. The night before you can choose your additions so that they are ready to go and place two pieces of bread right into a Ziploc bag for every family member. They can toast their bread as they get up and store their sandwich inside a bag for uncomplicated transport to school.
4. Oatmeal – Oats makes a wonderful hot meal that contain lots of filling fiber that will keep you from getting hungry later on inside morning. Depending on your taste, it is possible to take five minutes to fix it on the stove or use the microwave for immediate oatmeal. Children tend to like the variety of flavors that come with ready-to-eat-in-a-millisecond oatmeal. The evening before, toss together a mixture of add-ins like blueberries, strawberries and bananas that could be tossed on top for a bit of antioxidant power. And if you’re truly focused on health, choose only the whole grain kind of oatmeal. Yes, it takes longer to cook but you can come down in the morning and put on your cereal while you go back upstairs to finish dressing. I work at home now, but I did this for many years. At first, I used a timer but I got so good at it that I knew exactly when it was time to go down and dish up the oatmeal. Believe me, it can be done.
