Happy Halloween, 2020. We hope you and yours, and especially the little ones, have a safe and scary Halloween eve. I have my pumpkin earrings and witch socks on! :-)
Why We’re Not Participating In Trick Or Treat This Year
We go crazy on Halloween, handing out all kinds of high-quality candy because it’s so much fun to see excited little ones who are both scared and thrilled. But we’re skipping it this year because of what’s going on in our neighborhood. We received a flyer making suggestions for how to hand out treats, to wit:
Suggestion 1: make a ‘candy chute’ out of pvc pipe with the end dangling on the porch and allow candy to fall down onto the pavement.
Suggestion 2: set up a table at the end of the driveway where trick or treaters can remain at least six feet away. It wasn’t really clear how we’re supposed to deliver the candy – lob it down the driveway – in the DARK – I suppose.
Suggestion 3: put up stakes in the yard and tie treats to them.
This whole thing is just RIDICULOUS!!! If parents are too terrified to interact on Halloween eve, so be it, but there is no fun in this timid, frightened atmosphere. Just another example of how fear has ruined a fun and spooky day. Too, too bad.
