Truly Healthy Vegetarian Recipes: Strawberry Sorbet

Written by Sydney Johnston 2 Comments

Much as I hate to face it, the hot weather is on its way to Atlanta. Groan. Still, it has its compensations and strawberry sorbet is one of them. I'm always searching for healthy vegetarian recipes that are also yummy and fruit sorbets definitely qualify. In fact, I'm really greedy for my sorbets in the hot weather.

A Test for You: see if you can't figure out which ingredient below makes this a personal favorite. Bet it will be easy …

Strawberry Sorbet Recipe

My strawberry sorbet recipe is simplicity itself:

Frozen strawberries – preferably organic …
A dab of maple syrup, to taste …
And throw in some chocolate …

I simply dump all this in my magic mixer and … Wow! What an awesome strawberry sorbet! I can't tell you how much of anything to use – just eyeball it.

And you can vary these ingredients endlessly. For instance, you can make peach sorbet, raspberry sorbet or my favorite – cherry sorbet. All you need to do is substitute peaches, raspberry or cherries instead of strawberries. I really like blackberries, too, although I usually get seeds stuck in my teeth which isn't so much fun.

And can you guess the Magic Ingredient that makes this one my favorite? Chocolate, of course!

Wow that sounds super easy! Does it really not get too watery?

The amount of fruit you add determines how watery the sorbet is. Too thick? Add more liquid. It’s just a matter of experimentation. Enjoy!
