Of all the skin care products available on the market, baby skin care should be -but isn't always, sadly – the most gentle. All parents want the best for their babies and because of this; there are many options available for just that purpose. Before selecting a baby care product, make sure you carefully read the label. Look for any ingredients that may cause an allergic reaction and stay away from those products.
Cradle cap is one of the many issues that can arise causing you to search for a special skin care product. Cradle cap is the build up of dry skin on your baby’s scalp that looks like a yellowish crust. Although this condition is not harmful and does not affect the baby, it can be quite unsightly and most parents will want to try to get rid of as much as possible.
Although there are many products available specifically designed for cradle cap, they can be expensive and generally not necessary. To help lessen the appearance of cradle cap, wash your baby’s scalp with warm water and a mild baby soap making sure to gently scrub the scalp. Once you have washed, gently dry and use a soft baby brush or comb to remove some of the build up.
If there is still a significant amount of build up left on the scalp, you can apply baby lotion or baby oil to the affected area. Let the lotion or oil sit for a few seconds and then brush their scalp again. If the lotion or dry skin gets stuck in the hair, rinse with warm water. The look of the cradle cap should show immediate improvement. Repeat this process daily until the cradle cap is gone.
Another skin problem found with some babies is eczema. Again, there are pricey alternatives, but the ingredients are simple. Hydrocortisone cream should take care of most eczema. You can make a mixture of baby lotion and hydrocortisone cream, found in the first aid isle of any supermarket. Although this is not a cure for eczema, it will temporarily relieve and or eliminate the symptoms. It is not necessary to use this mixture on areas that are not affected by eczema.
Diaper rash is another skin condition that will require immediate attention. Make sure to change your baby often. If a rash does occur, put an ointment specifically designed for diaper rash to help clear the area. If the product you are using does not seem to work effectively, try a different product. Some babies are sensitive to the ingredients used in specific diaper rash creams. If the problem area does not get better within one day, or appears to become worse, consult a physician. Yeast infections are common among children and will start by looking like a traditional diaper rash. However, if not treated properly, they can quickly turn into painful open sores.
Whenever caring for a baby, make sure to use products that are specifically designed for a baby’s sensitive skin. Chemicals and dyes can cause severe reactions in the skin of an infant. Make sure to take the necessary steps to prevent this from happening. The skin of a baby feels like luxurious velvet and careful baby skin care is necessary to keep it that way!

Choose very wisely the products for your baby as their skin is very soft and sensitive. You can go for mothercare or Johnson’s and Johnson’s wet wipes for your baby.
