A quote from a Rozeren user … "I went to bed at the same time as always, wearing my pink nightgown and fuzzy yellow socks. When I woke up three hours later, I was sitting by the side of the road, surrounded by policemen and paramedics. My car was wrecked. Apparently, about 2 hours after I fell asleep, I rose up out of my bed, sat behind the wheel of my car (still wearing my pink nightgown and fuzzy yellow slippers, of course), and promptly drove my car straight into a tree–all while still asleep. This is called “sleep-driving,” and it is one of the possible side effects of a prescription drug I was taking called Rozerem. And the shocking part is that these Rozerem side effects are not unusual!"
Why Do People Take Rozerem?
Rozerem is prescribed for treating insomniacs who have difficulty falling asleep. It is not considered as a treatment for those who wake in the middle of the night or too early in the morning. Rozerem is classified as a hypnotic drug.
The drug companies told me that Rozerem works by stimulating the melatonin receptors in the body, thus helping me to fall asleep faster.
What they failed to mention is how these hypnotic drugs really work. They actually slow and suppress the functioning of the nervous system and the brain. As you can probably guess, this results in impairment of physical abilities and mental perception. These drugs also cause a decrease in heart rate and breathing, which pushes your body toward sleep.
Side Effects Of Rozerem …
Based on studies of patients taking Rozerem, the most common side effects include:
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Fatigue
Worsened insomnia
Respiratory infections, like colds
Muscle pain
Nausea
Taste changes
Influenza (“the flu“)
Even Worse Side Effects Of Rozerem …
Then there are many patients who have experienced one or more of the following while taking Rozerem:
Depression
Aggression
Suicidal thoughts
Hallucinations
Restlessness
Confusion
Strange behavior
Abnormal Thinking And Changes In Behavior
When it comes to using hypnotics, a variety of cognitive and behavioral changes have been reported. In depressed patients, many have become more depressed–and some have even successfully committed suicide–while using these drugs.
Hallucinations, along with behavioral changes like bizarre behavior, agitation, and even mania, have been reported by users of Rozerem. Amnesia and anxiety may also occur erratically.
And there is a variety of peculiar and frightening behaviors, like what happened to me as a result of Rozerem. Lots of people have reported “sleep-driving” and other complex behaviors, such as making and eating food, placing phone calls, or having sex, as a side effect of Rozerem use.

I am male, 29 years old. Taking rozerem for two weeks and I have noticed an increase in abdominal fat. No diet or exercise changes of note during that time.

I’m sorry about the ab fat. That’s a real bummer. Somehow I missed Debbie’s comment above but I guess you’ve answered her question. Thanks for the feedback.
