Car recalls aren’t a very exciting or sexy subject. But the LAST thing you want to do is unknowingly subject your family and yourself to dangerous driving conditions. Since this is a blog about natural health I’ll make the quite obvious observation that the #1 way to protect your health is through prevention, not cure.
The latest major car recall is huge – in fact, it affects an estimated 32 million drivers. The Takata company manufactures air bags that are used in huge numbers of vehicles and there is a problem with the inflators. I don’t truthfully know what an inflator is, but obviously the seat belt won’t work properly without it. This could have serious or even fatal consequences for anyone involved in an accident.
Here is a list of manufacturers affected by this problem. Check to see if your car is on it:
Acura
Audi
BMW
Chrysler (Chrysler, Dodge, RAM)
FIAT
Ford
General Motors (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn)
Honda
Hyundai
Infiniti
Jaguar
Kia
Land Rover
Mazda
Mercedes-Benz
Mini
Mitsubishi
Nissan
Porsche
SMART
Subaru
Toyota
Volkswagen
Volvo
Just because you drive one of those makes doesn’t mean that your car has a problem. You can look up your specific car to see if there is a problem. For instance, I drive a 2015 Honda CR-V and even though Honda is on the list, there is no problem with my specific car.
You can look up the auto recall information by:
1. VIN number: https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/
2. Specific make: go to your specific manufacturer and check out their information. They don’t want to post it – but they do.
It will cost you nothing to get your car fixed, except for a few minutes to read this article and go to the appropriate sites. So play it safe and check your car out now!
