Labor Day is the psychological start of autumn, even though the official calendar date is September 22. I always feel wonderful this time of year since fall is my favorite season. I love and adore cool nights; gorgeous gold, red and yellow leaves; the smoky smell in the air; the anticipation of wonderful Halloween – and even the start of the football season.
I feel more alive and have more energy in cool weather. And the anticipation of winter and wonderful holidays like Thanksgiving (my personal favorite) and Christmas adds an extra spice to this time of year. I’ve lived in Snow Country in the past (Ottawa, Canada and Manhasset, New York) and have no desire to go back to ever-present snow. But the occasional snow storm in Atlanta is lots of fun … as long as we don’t lose the power!!!
The autumn of 2007 was the most beautiful Atlanta fall of all time. The leaves were incredibly spectacular. I can only hope we have such a fairy tale time this year.
And besides, Starbucks autumnal Pumpkin Spice latte is back! What can be better than cool weather, gorgeous scenery and a cup of Pumpkin Spice latte, a good book and an hour to read? Nothing, that’s what.
So enjoy every precious moment of today and I hope your joy over autumn is as great as mine.
