Let me tell you right now that if we all lived in a perfect world where every single one of us was healthy then I’m certain that we’d be doing the rights things such as making weekly trips to the supermarket to get our grocery shopping done, eating organic meat that was sourced locally, eating eggs that were just laid that morning by chickens that were running about in our yards, and spending our free time in the local forests hunting for organic mushrooms to eat that evening with dinner!
With it being so easy to get whatever we want within a moments notice, I find it hard to imagine that anyone out there would actually want to leave the comforts of everyday life, no matter how good and healthy the alternative may actually be.
But of course, every single one of us still wants to make sure that we are making the best choices possible when it comes to health. We want to buy organic foods but at the same time we only want to invest our hard earned cash into those foods that provide the most benefit!
So in order to make your lives a little easier, I’ve taken the time to put together a list of foods that I believe will help you get on the right track. The list of organic foods I share can all be easily found at any of your local stores, so there isn’t an excuse not to get them!
So when it comes to the number one food you must start eating organically, I’d recommend that you all start off with…
1. Full Fat Dairy
Regardless of whether or not you consume dairy, you can be sure that someone, somewhere in the world is consuming it at one point in time or another. In fact no matter what form of dairy whether it be butter, milk, yogurt or cream you can be certain that it is being consumed by people on a regular basis!
If you’re one of those people that enjoys dairy on a regular basis then you need to understand that the best variety that you can actually get is the dairy that has come from grass fed cows! If you can’t find this then you should opt to get your hands on the organic variety.
The reason you’ll want to go organic when it comes to dairy is because by law and certain legislation that the government has created… organic dairy farmers must make sure that the dairy that their cows produce actually meet a certain set of quality standards.
The number one legislation is the fact that these farmers must make sure that they allow their cows to feed on fresh grass for the entire season of grazing which in fact lasts for approximately 120 days of the year. On top of this, the farmers must ensure that their cows are getting at least 30% of their total calories from this fresh grass.
So whenever you buy organic dairy, you can feel great knowing that it was actually sourced from a cow that ate a decent amount of fresh grass!
Another reason why you’ll want to go organic when it comes to your dairy is simply because the corn and soy that conventional cows are given are full of pesticides which actually get passed onto the dairy that these cows produce! If you’re serious about improving your health over the long term then I don’t think you’ll want to be putting any more pesticides in your body!
2. Eggs
The rules when it comes to eggs are really simple, so if you want to get the absolute best then you need to get eggs that have come from pastured chickens. If you can’t get your hands on these at the local store then you should work to get the organic variety but nothing less than that.
The reason you’ll want to avoid the standard eggs that you find everywhere is because the feed that is given to the chickens that produce them are covered with pesticides which actually get passed onto the eggs that these chickens lay.
This is exactly why it is essential for you to try your best to get your hands on eggs that have come from pastured chickens. The reason for this is that these chickens are largely left to find food for themselves in their natural environment. So you’ll find that they will spend the whole day eating things like bugs, worms, grasses and other natural things… rather than just getting stuffed with pesticide ridden grains.
Once you understand and appreciate the rules regarding eggs then you’ll be well on your way to getting healthy in no time at all!
3. Leafy Greens
There is one common factor that is prominent in all leafy green vegetables and that is the fact that they all have really large surface areas. Seriously just look at any leafy green vegetable such as spinach or kale and you’ll notice that it’s got a large surface area.
The issue with this is that you can pretty much guarantee that the whole entire vegetable will get covered with the pesticides that the farmer sprays onto it… and unfortunately this can be rather difficult to remove.
It’s a completely different story when it comes to things like carrots or potatoes, because you can scrub them as hard as you want and you won’t cause any sort of damage to them. But if you were to apply even a fraction of the force to a vegetable like kale, then you’d pretty much end up destroying it.
If that hasn’t pushed you to going organic with vegetables then answer the following question. With the sheer volume of vegetables that you’ll be consuming from now on, would you really want to be putting so many harmful pesticides down your body? If health is a concern then I really doubt it.
Trust me, going organic when it comes to vegetables will be the best thing that you’ve ever done for your long term health!
4. Berries
You might be surprised to find out that blueberries, strawberries and practically every other type of berry out there gets sprayed with the most amount of pesticides in comparison to every other fruit or vegetable. You might also be surprised to find out that berries also contain the most amount of antioxidants!
But interestingly, the berries that aren’t sprayed with any sort of pesticides actually produce a lot more of their own chemical protectants (called polyphenols) in comparison to those berries that are sprayed with pesticides. The good news is that when you ingest these berries with the added polyphenols, you’ll get some of the benefit of these protectants too.
Research has shown us that organic blueberries and strawberries actually contain a lot more antioxidants, phenolics, malic acid and natural sugars than the standard berries out there.
So I’d definitely recommend that you guys start opting for the organic berries from now on, as the health benefits will be more than worth it!
Please don’t take this list to be the end of your journey into getting healthy, but rather look at it as the starting point on your lifelong journey to getting really healthy and more importantly staying healthy! Your aim should be to slowly but surely work toward getting everything you eat to be organic.
If you can do this then there’s absolutely nothing in the world that is going to be able to stop you from getting truly exceptional results in the future!
