Gratitude Training: A 30 Day Experiment In Gratitude Exercises, Day 3

Written by Sydney Johnston Leave a Comment

We’re back on Day 3 of my gratitude training experiment. Pam Grout suggests playing a different gratitude game every day and yesterday I mentioned a game I like called “deem it fun” (see yesterday’s gratitude entry). I like that game so much that I’m sticking with it for a while – but with a twist.

I happen to believe in the appreciation quote pictured above. If we focus constantly on gratitude and appreciation, our lives are CERTAIN to be joyous and spectacular, just as promised. So making life fun is a cool and easier way to notice all our blessings.

Yesterday, I looked for reasons to declare something fun – specifically cleaning up the dishes. Then I realized that I can just declare anything fun, just because I want to! I don’t have to have reasons!!! It’s totally up to me. And you. Just DECIDE or declare that what you’re doing and experiencing is fun. After all, who makes that choice but you?

Today’s Blessings

Blessing 1: I’ve been eating the most awesome salads for dinner for the past few months. It starts with a generous helping of Spring Mix, which is a collection of various lettuces and greens. That’s topped with all kinds of goodies: cucumber, shredded carrots, tomatoes, apples, olives, beans, sometimes corn, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, a hard boiled egg and usually a small serving of blue cheese. I top that off with some olive oil and pink Himalayan salt. I eat it very slowly because I savor each and every bite. True delight and health, too. How wonderful is that? Thank you veggies, fruit, seeds and oil.

Blessing 2: I’m re-reading Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting. This is my umpteenth reading if a fine book with a rather unfortunate (in my opinion) title. It’s written by a gal named Lynn Grabhorn and it’s about the Law of Attraction. You know how you can read something – and then read it again and see things you never noticed before? These two sentences absolutely leaped out at me: “Focus on what you want with passion and excitement and presto! It’s on its way.” Hey, I can do that. I DO do that – every day. If she’s right, and I’m sure she is, that makes me a champion at the Science of Deliberate Creation, as Esther Hicks calls it. Thank you, Lynn.

Blessing 3: Last night/this morning was a rarity in my life. I was really tired and went to bed at a little after 9:30. I woke up this morning at 5:00. In other words, I slept through the night without waking and that almost never happens. Usually I wake up at least once during the night, and sometimes even more. Wow, 7 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep is truly a blessing. Thank you, body.
