Review: Richard Dotts, Banned Manifestation Secrets – Law of Attraction Confusion?

Written by Sydney Johnston Leave a Comment

Richard Dotts has a plethora of Law of Attraction books and one of them is Banned Manifestation Secrets. I have several of his books myself, but in this one Dotts contradicts himself. And this contradiction is so basic that it undermines the entire premise of his book.

First he claims (and I totally agree!) that what happens in our lives is totally our responsibility:

Until you see yourself as a conscious creator, as an “attractor” of everything that comes into your physical experience, you’ll always feel powerless. You’ll always ascribe and prescribe circumstances, situations and events in your life to external cause. But there are no “external” causes. Everything happens in and from you … But it is so difficult for most people to get because it requires that one takes TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY for everything that happens in their lives.

The spiritual masters of told us, time and again, that the power is WITHIN us. It is not something outside of us.

… when we ascribe power to something that is outside of us … then an essence we are giving our power away. We’re admitting that we are powerless and that something outside of ourselves has power over the results in my life (sic).

Then, he basically hands over his personal power to a “higher power”.

I’m constantly amazed by how higher power always knows better than I do.

He then goes on to explain how he’s OK with his intentions manifesting, or not, because he doesn’t know nearly as much as this higher power. I won’t argue this point, but you can’t have it both ways, Richard. Either you are 100% responsible – or you’re not.

How is this not such a basic contradiction that the entire book becomes questionable? I didn’t finish this book because the author seems quite confused. No thanks.
