The Law of Attraction exploded in the popular mindset with the release of the movie "The Secret". But as today’s guest author rightly states, there is nothing new about this knowledge. What is new, though, is the increasingly widespread use of this natural Law to deal with life-destroying habits like alcohol and drug addiction.
A Modern Use For An Ancient Mindset: the Law of Attraction states that the energy we release in to the universe will return to us. When we send positive energy into the universe, we will receive this energy back many times over. When we tell the universe that which we desire in our life, it will manifest. This philosophy has been around for a very long time. A new interest in The Law of Attraction stirred in our society with the release of The Secret. The idea of having amazing things manifest in our lives gained worldwide popularity. Thought leaders reminded us that, while we send energy out to the universe, we must take action towards achieving our goals. The Law of Attraction doesn’t only apply to achieving our deepest desires; it also applies to conquering our current hardships. This philosophy can be used to deal with addiction.
Addiction is a word that has received a great deal of attention lately. The headlines are filled with stories of celebrity addiction, an increase in drug use and news about new designer drugs and their impact on our society. Having the illness of addiction is treatable disease. Treatment for addiction is available in several forms. There are therapists, coaches, treatment centers, 12-Step programs and alternative treatment plans. All of these treatment plans have been affective in treating addiction. When we add The Law of Attraction into the treatment formula, the person recovering experiences something more than sobriety.
While working on sobriety, one can sometimes find himself or herself lost. They may not realize that their life has an ultimate purpose, they have unique gifts that the world is just waiting to see manifest. By adding The Law of Attraction into the program of recovery, one will find a sense of purpose and intention. Along with maintaining sobriety, one will have an obtainable goal for their life. Through releasing positive energy into the universe on a continual basis, this energy will return to you and manifest in miraculous ways. This is the power of intention.
A life lived with intention and purpose proves to you why you are working so hard on a day-to-day basis. While one works to stay sober, one day at a time, they are achieving measurable milestones. These milestones are leading towards an ultimate goal. The perspective of knowing that you are working towards a well-rounded life, that has purpose, provides incentive and motivation to remain sober and work a solid program of recovery.
Getting sober and maintaining sobriety can be hard. This can also be the most fulfilling and eye-opening time of ones life. When you combine the principles of The Law of Attraction with a solid program of recovery, you will continue to live with purpose. The motivation of knowing that your life is worthy of amazing things creates the self-worth needed for true success. Becoming sober is the first step on your journey to the glorious life this universe has in store for you.

Can the law of attraction you have stated be referred to the laws of Karma? Seems that way! It’s an awesome way to live life! Knowing that when you do good you receive good. This is a very interesting post with some awesome motivation for previous drug abusers. Support like this is very much important for a recovering addict. Positive energy is always needed around a recovering addict.

My favorite LOA teacher, Esther Hicks, says that karma and the LOA aren’t the same thing. Karma is defined as either 1) payment for past life rights and wrongs or 2) lessons. According to Esther (Abraham) the LOA applies in this lifetime and we only need to concern ourselves with what we’re attracting right now.
