These two digital alphabets are "historical" because they are based on writing that was common in colonial America, approximately 250 years ago. It was a time in history when people were trained for beautiful handwriting and it was considered very important for educated people. In the computer age that idea seems "quaint", but there's no doubt that writing of the day was gorgeous compared to modern writing.
