Written by Sydney Johnston Leave a Comment

There are lots of expensive and chemical-laden facial scrubs on the market. Why spend huge sums of money on uncertain products when you can make your own homemade face scrub for a small amount of money? And this yummy recipe from our book 517 Spa and Beauty Gifts To Make will give you a luscious experience that will make your face oh, so happy.

Lavender-Peppermint Homemade Face Scrub Recipe

* 2 cup rolled oats
* 1 cup almonds
* 2 teaspoons dried lavender
* 2 teaspoons dried peppermint
* 2 cups white cosmetic clay

+ Grind oats, almonds and herbs to a very fine powder in a blender or with a mortar and pestle.
+ Mix ground herbs with clay, store in covered container.
+ To use: mix one heaping teaspoons of mixture with water to make a paste.
+ Massage the paste into your skin, then rinse well with warm water.

Variations On This Homemade Facial Scrub

* Instead of using the dried herbs you can use lavender and peppermint essential oils
* Or choose different fragrances, like lavender-vanilla or a citrus scent – I love lime, lemon, orange and tangerine

What Is White Cosmetic Clay?

Cosmetic clays are famous for their “drawing” power. That is, they draw toxins out of our skin and bring them to the surface so they can be washed away. White cosmetic clay is also known as white kaolin clay and you’ve used in many, many times without knowing it because it’s used in almost all cosmetics, both wet and dry.

It’s very mild so it won’t damage even sensitive skin and it stimulates circulation to your skin as well, adding a nice healthy glow.

This stuff is so popular that it’s used when making paper, china, toothpaste and myriad other common products.

And, to top it all, it’s not expensive. The price is low and a little bit goes a long way.

So grab the ingredients above and make some a bath of lavender-peppermint homemade face scrub. Your skin will be dancing and singing in the background.
