Along with many different body types, skin colors and hair textures, you may find yourself wondering just what to do when it comes to skin care. For those with oily skin, it may be difficult to determine just what is best. Of the many products that are marketed to target oily skin, you may find that many of these product do not have the desired effect and you may need products specifically for oily skin care. The best products are natural skin care products you make especially for YOUR skin.
All skin produces some amount of oil. Some skin may produce an excess amount as the sebaceous glands, the glands that produce oil, seem to work overtime. Although oily skin is not harmful, it does generally lead to unwanted blemishes. Your skin produces oils to protect itself. Oils helps to keep your skin moisturized, but it also is a great way to harbor acne causing bacteria.
Trying to find a balance between oily and dry skin may be a difficult task. Some products that are made for oily skin are too harsh and will cause the reverse effect. Instead of controlling the oil production, it can dry out your skin causing the sebaceous glands to overcompensate and produce additional oil. Try a few different treatments to see what is most successful. Use a mild soap, such as baby soap to wash your skin. You should wash your face in the morning and before going to bed. However, make sure you do not wash your face too much. Washing oily skin often will cause your glands to produce additional unwanted oil.
If foundation makeup is necessary, make sure to select one that is oil free. Although they may be a bit pricey, some manufacturers provide foundation that is specifically designed for people with oily skin. These foundations tend to be oil free and do not clog pores as much as their oil containing competitors. Regardless of the makeup you select, you should never go to bed while leaving makeup on your face. Going to bed with makeup on will clog your pores and promote the growth of bacteria.
Most people with oily skin will not require an additional moisturizer. Putting additional moisturizers on your skin will cause it to become oilier than leaving it without any. If you find that you have dry patches, try a moisturizer that is oil free without added color or fragrance. Apply it to the dry areas for a bit of added moisture.
With all of the embarrassing blemishes and shiny complexion, there is some good news. Oily skin ages slower than dry skin. When selecting skin care options look for benzyl peroxide to be listed within the active ingredients. This will help keep the oil production at a minimum and will also help to clean your pores.
No matter the selected skin care regimen, make sure to remember that not every product will work for everyone. The most important thing to remember is to keep your skin very clean. Keep makeup and harsh chemicals at a minimum. Continue to try combinations of products until you find what works best for you.
