Dr. John Heinerman tells a story about discovering a 2000 year old wrinkle cream that belonged to Cleopatra, one of the famous beauties of legend. Supposedly, Cleo had few or no wrinkles throughout her life and, if that's true, this cream just might be one of the best anti wrinkle creams in history.
According to Heinerman, he was in Egypt in the 1980s and in a town named Nazlet El-Simman, he met an Egyptian who had fragments of very old and brittle papyrus, covered with ancient hierogyphics. This Egyptologist, named Nostafa Abdel El-Selim, gave him a translation of the recipe and this is how it's made.
There is one small change – apparently Cleopatra used mud and we have included cornstarch as a replacement. Can't you just imagine her sending someone down to the Nile for a quick handful of river mud?
The Anti Wrinkle Cream Formula
#1: Slice two cucumbers and put them in your blender.
#2: Add whipping cream and blend to make a thick, smooth paste.
#3: Add 1 Tablespoon of olive oil and blend again.
#4: Add 1 Tablespoon of honey and blend all four ingredients.
#5: Add enough cornstarch (use a spoon) to make the wrinkle cream the consistency of shaving cream. No mud needed.
#6: Place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes – it needs to be cold.
#7: Cut some lemons or limes and rub them all over your face and neck. And by the way, Realemon or Realime is convenient – but it won't work for this wrinkle remover. We need the 'real' thing, not an artificially created substitute. Don't wash this citrus juice off!
#8: Lie down, or at least recline in a lounge chair, and cover your face with Cleopatra's wrinkle cream. Heinerman says to leave it on for 75 minutes but an hour or so will work. To recap: your face and neck are now coated with lemon/lime juice and anti wrinkle cream.
#9: Wash your face and then use the cream (unwhipped) and rub your face in a circular motion. Let it dry. And Heinerman emphasizes: "Under no circumstances apply anything else. Within a short period of time, you should begin to experience less wrinkles and if you do this often enough, who's to say that you might not be as beautiful as Cleopatra was?"
Does Cleopatra's Wrinkle Cream Really Work?
Maybe. But the problem is that it doesn't have a very long shelf life. That is, you'll have to keep it in the refrigerator and make it often or it will spoil.
Also, you need a lot of time. Sitting around with cream on your face is a fun experience on a leisurely afternoon. But when you're racing out the door in the morning, frantic to get the kids to school and yourself to work on time, then using this anti aging cream is impossible.
Both of those reasons are why we recommend making your own natural skin care products that require no refrigeration and you can put them on just like anything you'd buy on Amazon, or wherever. And they have the big advantage of Cleo's wrinkle cream: they're chemical free! Queen Cleopatra didn't have to deal with umpteen nasty chemicals that damaged her body and messed up her skin. And we shouldn't use them either. And that is what our How To Wave Goodbye To Overpriced, Dangerous And Useless Skin Care Products is all about.
OK, rant over – but this IS a natural health site after all and we think that all the hundreds of chemicals in our lives are a biological time bomb that is certain to go off one of these days. Hope we're wrong.
