Easy Weight Loss Tips Part 4: How To Stay Motivated to Lose Weight

Written by Sydney Johnston Leave a Comment

Proper motivation is quite possibly the most significant factor when it comes to the success of your weight loss plan. Why? Because, without motivation there is very little personal incentive for you to go through with the hard tasks of successfully completed a full-fledged program. With that, what can you do in order to stay positively motivated? Luckily, there are quite a few different methods and tricks for you to employ. It would be in your best interest to read through them all and, if you have yet to do so, put one into effect immediately. By doing so, you will be one step closer to achieving your weight loss goals.

First and foremost, the biggest secret to gaining motivation is that you have to create it! Simply sitting and waiting for a motivational experience isn’t going to do the trick. In order to take this positive step, you have to take action. It sounds absolutely redundant, but you much create action to take action. So, what can you do, right this moment, to become motivated to start losing your weight and be on your way to a successful weight loss program?

One of the most simple thing you can do it create a personalized contract for yourself. Yes, it seem a little narcissistic but, honestly, having something written down that you can bind yourself to is the first positive step to success. However, when writing this self-contract, it is important to not make it generalized. We know your goal is to lose weight – so don’t simply bind yourself by saying “I’m going to lose weight.” Rather, state exercise specific examples that you will need to do to fulfill your end of the contract. Something as simple as saying, “I will take a brisk walk every morning when I wake up” is great for this motivational factor.

Another slightly obvious thing you can do to increase your motivation is to make a chart to track your progress. It does not have to be anything elaborate. You could weight yourself every other day and track your weight on the a calender. This will provide you with both visual and textual feedback that you surely further motivate you to continue losing weight.

If neither of those sound quite appeasing to you, maybe keep a personal journal of your journey through your weight loss program? This gives you the ability to write your daily thoughts about your struggles and/or accomplishments. On days when you just feel that your ability to lose weight has come to a stand still, you can simply open your journal up and read about how you felt on the days when you successfully met your daily goals. Revisiting your previous victories, no matter how small or large, will be enough to reinvigorate you to get off the couch and do something active.

As you can see, the ability to stay motivated is not as tricky as some people make it out to be. With proper self-discipline and the ability to track your progress in various methods will allow you to stay motivated and to become re-motivated when the situations calls for it. The key to a successful weight loss plans rest solely on your ability to stay true to yourself and your goals. And, in order to do that, you need to be accountable for yourself. In doing so, you can be sure that your motivation will stay at positive levels.
