Since the word “bliss” is the title of this blog, it’s no surprise that finding happiness is a subject of great interest to all of us at Blissplan.com. A recent Woman’s World magazine has some really intriguing ideas for increasing our happiness and I thought I would share some of them right here.
1. The Happiness Scratch
Supposedly, scratching the back of your arm or leg for a measly 20 seconds will increase your happiness. Sounds strange to me too but supposedly it stimulates sensory nerves that encourage your body to pump out all kinds of feel-good hormones. Endorphins anyone?
2. Chaw Down on a Cake Pop
Woman’s World claims that eating a high calorie treat – like a cake pop – short-circuits our brain’s stress response. The claim is that we will get instant happiness that can last up to a week. True or not? I don’t know but I’m off to Krispy Kreme to get a pumpkin spice doughnut and test this one out.
3. Go Glittery
Glittery jewelry will supposedly lift our mood in mere seconds. Why? Because seeing something either silver or gold lights up our brain’s pleasure center. I find this one very easy to believe because sunshine and moonlight certainly improve my mood. And what woman doesn’t enjoy a bit of bling?
4. Boost Your Mood By Wearing a Dress
British researchers claim that wearing a dress will increase happiness 10 times more than wearing a pair of jeans. Seeing some of the sullen teenagers in malls with their ragged jeans makes this idea credible to me.
5. Pink = Relaxation
This happiness booster might be a bit tougher for the guys but the color pink supposedly is very relaxing. Actually, guys who are sure of themselves do wear pink shirts so maybe it’s not so hard to wear masculine pink after all.
6. Fly With Hot Air Balloons
Just the sight of brightly colored hot air balloons supposedly automatically lifts our spirits. They are symbols of good luck and having screen savers, wallpaper, dishes, or whatever you can come up with with hot air balloons on them supposedly will raise your mood in seconds.
So there are six quick and easy ways of finding happiness. They’re cheap and quick so try some of them and see how they work for you. Unless, of course, happiness and bliss aren’t states of being that you like.
