Modern moms are expected to be everything – great housewives, perfect mothers, strong career women, and loving wives, and living this many lives is really physically draining, and beyond the physical fatigue, the demands can lead to massive emotional stress and trauma. You do your best, and you are probably great at it, but the fact remains that your body simply can’t handle the stress. But where do you find time for yourself? And on the odd occasion that you manage to have an hour alone, what can you do apart from catch a quick power nap? Here are a few tips for pampering yourself that actually work, and won’t take hours or make you feel guilty for looking out for number one.
Treat Your Feet
Most moms don’t have the time to go to the beauty parlour or spa if our feet need some attention, and because you are constantly busy and on the go, our feet tend to bear the brunt, and are often neglected. Refreshing your feet is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get a quick pick me up – plus there is the added advantage that you will be able to wear those gorgeous heels!
Start with soaking your feet in warm water for about 10 minutes. This is already a great gap to just take a breath and relax. Adding lavender oil, bath oil or a similar product will help soften the skin. If you are lucky enough to have a foot spa, use it – the bubbles will make you feel fresh. After the ten minutes, dry your feet with a nice fluffy towel, and then use a pumice stone to scratch off excess skin. This will make your feet look and feel better.
Next, moisturize! Many women don’t realize the importance of keeping the skin on their feet healthy – skin needs love, always. The final step is to give your nails some attention. Cut them, work the cuticles, and paint them so that you look as good as you feel.
The 15 Minute Facial
You do not need expensive facial treatments to make yourself look and feel great, and they needn’t take hours either! Start with this simple home facial twice a week – you and your partner will inevitably notice the difference. Create a mask of natural products – avocado is great, even yoghurt (something cold) and apply it to your face. Also, place cucumbers over your eyes to relieve swelling and tiredness. Now, lie back and relax. Half an hour a week and you’ll be feeling and looking fabulous!
