Natural hair growth is a subject of great concern to many people. Those with a full head of hair may snicker at those who are anxiously glancing in mirrors and trying ever remedy under the sun, but hair growth treatment is a multi billion dollar business – yep, that’s a “B” – and no joke to those with thinning hair.
Common “Un-Natural” Hair Growth Remedies
1. Rogaine and Minoxidil are common hair treatment choices. These side effects have been experienced by users:
An allergic reaction which can include difficulty in breathing; throat swelling & closure; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; hives …
Chest pain …
Irregular or too-rapid heartbeat …
Fainting …
Itching, flakiness, redness and dryness of the scalp …
Many people have no success with either Rogaine or Mioxidil and there is no way of knowing which group you’re in until you try them out.
Further, once you quit using these products, your hair gain will begin to reverse itself. In other words, it’s a life sentence!
2. Transplants are quick but they do have their disadvantages. First, they are expensive – at least, more so than natural remedies or the products mentioned above.
Secondly, they don’t stop further hair loss which is why you will sometimes notice the odd-looking head with a patch of hair at the crown … surrounded by bald spots – sort of like a moat around a castle. That’s because the hair around the transplant continues to fall out, sending the embarrassed guy back to the transplant store.
If you don’t care if everyone knows you’ve had a transplant, then no problem. But if you’re interested in secrecy then it needs to be done gradually and multiple times so that you don’t show up at the office on Monday morning dramatically transformed.
And, of course, having hair stuck in your scalp isn’t the most comfortable procedure in town. Ouch! It hurts me just to think about it.
3. Last is a wig or toupee. Good ones aren’t cheap and there’s nothing sillier than a man with an ill-fitting and unnatural looking toupee, one that looks like an animal perched on his head.
And wigs are certainly uncomfortable at time, especially if not properly fitted. They’re hot and in the summer can be really miserable if you sweat underneath your wig and obviously can’t take it off without looking … silly.
Natural remedies for growing hair have some advantages over these because there are no side effects and they’re almost inevitably cheaper. But do they work? It depends on the person, as always, but loss can often be slowed, prevented or even reversed.
