5 Reasons For Diet Failure

You’ve taken an oath and THIS time you’re going to do it: lose weight. Days/weeks/months go by and once again: DIET FAILURE! But why? Why is it so damned hard??? Here are 5 reasons why most of us fail.

#1: The Infamous "Junk Food Diet"

Sigh … you’re still eating junk because it’s so tough to quit. It might seem that dieting how to is simply a simple mathematical formula of calories in ~ calories out. But it’s not really that obvious. WHAT you’re eating is definitely critical. Your body does not handle 200 calories of apple the same way as it handles 200 calories of chocolate candy! Sure, it’s fine to relish a treat here and there but you need to still try to focus your diet on healthy foods.

#2: "Food Rewards"

A food reward just might totally destroy your other efforts (this is my biggest downfall!) Do you pay strict attention to your diet when you’re working and in your routine – and then go crazy on weekends? Whether it’s drinks out on the town or a "bite or two" of dessert, you’re probably indulging a lot more – a whole lot more – than you think.

#3: Undereating

Undereating might seem like a really good strategy if you can’t lose weight otherwise. Rigorously adhering to a 1200 calorie diet if you’re a very active person–you have an involved job and/or you do vigorous work out for sixty minutes or more–you might not be eating nearly enough calories. Though it may look like strange to you, if your body isn’t getting the calories that it needs to function, it will start holding onto fat by slowing your metabolism. Your poor body is afraid that it’s going to starve! Try to calculate the way many calories you’re burning throughout the day and eat slightly under that instead of just restricting your calories to 1200 just because some ‘authority’ says so.

#4: Food Portion Control

Food portion control is a must, unless you’re eating very low calorie vegetables,so are you measuring your portions? You might think you can ‘eyeball’ an amount, but if you are not grabbing those measuring cups and spoons, you just might be overeating. Too much food, no matter what it is, can positively ensure weight loss failure. It sounds like we’re contradicting the above advice about undereating, but that’s not really the case. Your body is – or can be – a highly tuned machine and has certain needs that we need to hear.

#5: Body Image Issues

A healthy body image is a major problem for lots of us. We think we look ‘fatter’ and worse that we actually do. So, perhaps your body is already at its ideal weight or close to it. Your diet program may not work simply since your system is happy where it is.

‘Dieting how to’ is definitely an operation of trial and error, simply because every body is different. You need to focus on healthy dieting and then play around a bit and see what works for you. If you’re currently stuck at a certain weight, try mixing things up to see if you can start to lose weight again – or for the first time.

I especially agree with food rewards and undereating. People forget that they still need the energy from healthy foods to burn further calories away. But also being quick to reward one self with eating is a bad habit.
